Taib congratulates Hafiz for Akademi Fantasia feat
KUCHING: Akademi Fantasia (AF) 7 champion Mohd Hafiz Mohd Suip received a congratulatory and encouraging message from Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud on his arrival at Kuching International Airport (KIA) yesterday.
In the message, Taib said he (Taib) and the people of Sarawak were very proud with his (Hafiz) achievements and hoped that it would be an inspiration to others to work and strive hard to achieve their ambition.
The message added that Hafiz’s achievement reflected the desire of the young generation of Sarawak to be successful.
“With this opportunity, we would like to thank Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd, AF principal, its teachers and all the production team who were involved in guiding and making Hafiz into what he is now,” said Taib in the message.
He also wished Hafiz a successful future.
Hafiz arrived at KIA at 9am and was welcomed by Assistant Minister of Tourism and Youth Hamden Ahmad.
About 1,000 fans were there to welcome Hafiz, the first Sarawakian to be the champion of AF.
Later, Hafiz had a ‘meet the fans’ session at the Sarawak Tourism Complex from 8pm to 10pm.
The Kuching-born youth was named champion on May 23 after getting the highest SMS votes followed by four other contenders.
In second place was Aril, and in third, fourth and fifth places respectively were Akim, Yazid and Isma.
Hafiz also received a Honda Accord 2.0 sponsored by Honda Malaysia, a trip for two to New York, Arezzo Hoffman 5.1 Home Theater system, Olympus U130 digital camera, Hyundai MSP Advance air filter, Hugo Boss wrist watch, Brand Innershine Cerebos supply for one year, Nokia 5730 Music Xpress handphone, and RM20,000 cash as well as a trophy.
